Beaumont is one the most famous sites in the Coteaux de l’Aubance Appellation, its name ‘beau mont’ accurately describes this hill. The large structures of Château Rousset’s two windmills dominate the Aubance Valley. Some say you can count up to 17 church steeples from here.
The top part of the slope is planted exclusively with Chenin Blanc where the very thin, rocky soil gives robust white wines ¬– Ordovicien (dry) and Sélection and Noble (sweet). For sweet wines made from super mature vines the vibrant robust structure is able support a high level of sweetness without becoming dull and heavy.
Cabernet Sauvignon is planted on the slope where the stony soils help the grapes to fully ripen and produce the concentration that is found in Rocca Nigra.
